Cops arrest Delhi man for betting
Delhi police arrested a South-Delhi based bookie for betting on South Africa’s Mzansi super league cricket match being played in Port Elizabeth on Saturday.
The accused, identified as Dishant Malik was arrested redhanded from his flat located in Rajpur Khurd. The match was being played between Nelson Mandela Bay Giants and Durban Heats. “Malik, a class 12 dropout was under the radar of local police for past some months. He was as active bookie in south Delhi and over 100 people are in contact with him. He is part of international betting module that operates here secretly,” said AK Singla, DCP of south district police.
Adding that he had placed at least 59 bets worth Rs 3.36 lakhs till the time of the raid, police said, “7 mobile phones, two laptops, one register having handwritten details, Wi-Fi router, set-top box, calculator, Laptop and mobile chargers have been recovered from his possession.”
