The Marvelous Mrs Maisel 3 review: New season leaves viewers wanting more of Midge
Our favourite comedienne is back with her adventures and lots of laughs in the third season of Amy Sherman-Palladino’s The Marvelous Mrs Maisel. The new season was released on December 6 and sees Rachel Brosnahan reprising the role of Miriam (Midge) Maisel. Midge’s life turns upsidedown in the third season setting an interesting backdrop for a really gripping series but unfortunately, nothing of that sort actually happens.
The Marvelous Mrs Maisel 3 has everything that makes the series stand out among other shows popular on the digital medium currently. It has witty one-liners, amazing cast, riveting drama capable of taking the show a notch higher and unexpected humour. Yet, it leaves the viewers craving for more. While there’s so much happening in the show, nothing has been delved deeper into. Probably left for the next season, right?
There’s a lot happening in Midge’s life in the third season. She and husband Joel Maisel are divorced, and has started touring with singing sensation Shy Baldwin (Leroy McClain). Her father Abe Weissman (Tony Shalhoub) has left his job at the Columbia University making them vacate their four-bedroom flat and leaving them homeless. Midge’s feminism has rubbed off on her mother Rose Weissman (Marin Hinkle) who leaves her family fortune for her self respect. Midge’s manager Susie Myerson (Alex Borstein) is now managing Sophie Lennon (Jane Lynch). And there’s another love brewing in the life of Joel Maisel, who now owns a club of his own in Chinatown.
