Sushmita Sen refused to shoot Fiza’s Mehboob Mere for its suggestive lyrics: Ganesh Hegde
Sushmita Sen is one of the most articulate and strong actresses in Bollywood. The actress is known for her career choices and sticking to her values. Choreographer Ganesh Hehde, who worked with Sushmita in the 2000 film Fiza, said that she refused to shoot a song because its lyrics were too suggestive.
In an interview with Huffington Post, Ganesh Hegde said that the makers of Fiza had to change the suggestive lyrics of Mehboob Mere song from the film as Sushmita declared that she will not lip-sync the said lyrics.
“There was a line that went ‘aa garmi le mere seene se (come feel the heat of my bosom)’ and she refused to sing it. She said, ‘I won’t just do it’,” Ganesh Hegde said. Composer Anu Malik had to change the lines to ‘aa narmi le mere aankhon se (bask in the softness of my eyes)’.
Hegde added, “It was unheard of at that point of time, to command and extract that kind of respect.”
