Delhi Police arrests four for robbing a gas agency cash manager in Dwarka
Delhi Police has arrested four men for robbing a cash manager of a gas agency in broad daylight. The arrested men have been identified as Shekhar, Puneet Tanwar, Sadiq and Samrat.
The robbery took place in Dwarka Sector 7 around 1:55 pm on August 12.
The complainant, Bhamarbar Jena, said that he was going to a bank in Sector 7, Dwarka, for depositing Rs 3,79,922 in cash. When he reached the bank, two men robbed him on gunpoint and fled the spot.
He was unable to note down the motorcycle number of the accused. A police team started investigation the case immediately.
Their efforts bore fruits when on Saturday (August 15) police officer Manjeet received a tip-off that four criminals with illegal arms, who were involved in the broad daylight robbery case of the cash manager, might go to Gurugram from Dwarka Metro Station in a Santro White.
The police team laid a trap near the Metro, Ganda Nala Road and Dwarka Sector 16A. Police noticed the Santro White around 6:45 p.m. on Saturday and signalled the driver to stop.
The driver tried to reverse the car but ended up hitting police barricades. One of the accused pointed a gun at the police officers but was immediately overpowered by them and arrested them.
Police have seized three country-made pistols, five live cartridges, and cash worth Rs 3,28,300 along with a cheque deposit slip of a gas agency from their possession.
During interrogation, the arrested men confessed that they were the ones involved in the robbery case. It was revealed that one of the former employees of the gas agency had informed accused Samrat about the Bhamarbar Jena’s bank visit that day.
