Days after tussle with Google, Paytm adds cashback feature to app
Paytm on Monday said that it has added cashback feature back into the app.
The cashback is available to user’s as part of a sticker game related to IPL.
Earlier Google had removed Paytm from its app store over violation of rules.
Paytm has added a cashback feature to its app, days after Google had removed the app from the app store over this issue. However, Paytm now says that it has made the relevant changes in the app and feature which is part of Cricket Player Stickers available on Paytm transactions, is compatible with Google guidelines.
Earlier Google had removed Paytm for a few hours, before the app was modified and was allowed back into the app store by Google.
“While we remain firm in our stance on the action taken by Google, we have made a few changes to our promotions so that our cricket celebrations with you continue uninterrupted. The essence of ‘Paytm Cricket League’ remains the same – you get surprise Cricket Player Stickers on each transaction, and earn cashback on collecting them,” Paytm noted in the blog post on Monday.
Earlier on September 18, Google had removed the Paytm app because it believed the app was promoting online sports gambling in India.
Google had said that Paytm flouted rules several times and did not pay heed to any warnings, forcing the tech company to take action to remove the app.
Paytm called the allegations false.
“Our users can be assured that Paytm has never been involved in anything that can be considered betting or sports gambling. We believe that such arbitrary actions and accusatory labelling go against the laws of our country and acceptable norms of fair competition by arbitrarily depriving our users of innovative services,” Paytm said on Monday.
