The phone could get the Snapdragon 888 5G chipset.
The device could get a punch-hole display.
The Redmi K40 is once again in the news, with the phone’s live images now being leaked online reportedly from its home country China. The live images reveal the new design changes coming to the phone and also show how it differs from the Redmi K30. While there is no guarantee at the moment, rumours suggest the phone could be launched towards the end of this year alongside Xiaomi’s flagship, Mi 11.
Much like the Mi 11 phones, the Redmi K40 is also expected to get the flagship Snapdragon 888 5G chipset, alongside sporting premium hardware including an AMOLED display. But coming back to the latest leak for now. As per the live images, the Redmi K40 could come with a simple punch-hole cutout in the top center of the display to house a single lens leaving more area on the screen for users.
The live images also show the rear-facing main camera setup of the Redmi K40 could sport a much broader enclosure on the top left-hand side of the phone. It appears the phone could also come with five cameras and also bring with itself a flash. Interestingly, the K40 comes with the words “ultra premium” etched in the camera bump to sort of enhance the premium messaging of the phone.
Previously, we have also heard similar rumours about the Redmi K40 from tipster, Sudhanshu Ambhore. In the past he has also claimed that the Redmi K40 Pro’s display will bring with itself a selfie camera housed inside a punch-hole at its upper-left corner. Previous leaks have also claimed that the K40 will flaunt an OLED panel with a slim punch-hole which could be 3.7mm in size.
The Redmi K40 is also expected to act as an upgrade over the K30 Pro when it comes to the display department. Reports suggest the phone will get a panel that may refresh at high refresh rates — K40 Pro may come with 90Hz, 120Hz, or even 144Hz refresh rate support — as opposed to the Redmi K30 Pro which only came with a 60Hz display.
Apart from this, other reports suggest that the phone will come running the Snapdragon 888 5G chipset. There’s also expected to be support for a faster charging standard than found on the previous generation phone. The battery backing the phone could reportedly be a 45000mAh pack. Reports have speculated that the Redmi K40 Pro may be launched by the end of 2021 or at the beginning of 2021.
